The journalists of EenVandaag have discovered a way of doing investigative journalism that means they never have to look for news themselves again. All the big questions are put in the barrel with followers EenToday-opinion panel hot thrown. The panel has now grown to an army of more than 26,000.

I don’t know whether they are representative of the Netherlands. I don’t know anyone who is a member of the EenVandaag opinion panel, but it could also be that they prefer not to tell me. They allow themselves to be milked dry with love every week about everything, it will be a matter of feeling seen and appreciated, perhaps they think they can exert influence.

Of those more than 26,000, 432 drive a Tesla. That also seemed like news to me, I had estimated the number of Tesla drivers much higher. That empty dashboard with that enormous iPad with the route in the middle seemed like something that would appeal to the EenVandaag opinion panel.

The results of the survey among Tesla drivers from the EenVandaag opinion panel were impressive. Three in ten are considering getting rid of their Tesla because of Elon Musk. A number of people are also planning to put an anti-Musk sticker on their Tesla to distance themselves from the tech billionaire’s ideas.

It seemed to me a typical Dutch solution to a major problem: for electric driving because for the environment, for the subsidy that came with the purchase, but also against Musk and Trump. It’s nice that that dilemma can be solved with a sticker, just as environmental pollution could once be solved with the purchase of a Tesla.

The Tesla was often not a car, but a statement, with which you could also accelerate quickly at the traffic light, which has completely disappeared with the changed political circumstances. If you are willing to put a sticker on your bumper with a statement against your own car brand, you are not completely aligned. I hope that EenVandaag will continue to monitor and question its own 432 Tesla drivers. I want to know which political party they will vote for and which car they will drive next year. Porsche’s electric variant seems to be good, and it also has a button that perfectly imitates the sound of a petrol engine.

Just keep making your own news EenVandaag, it’s a feast for your hypocritical supporters.
