Fabian Hürzeler continues to cause a stir in the Premier League with Brighton. His team won clearly at the world club Manchester United.
Brighton & Hove Albion and coach Fabian Hürzeler can expect to have a chance of participating in the European Cup in the Premier League. The former St. Pauli coach’s team won 3-1 (1-1) against struggling English record champions Manchester United and is in ninth place with 34 points, four points behind fourth place in the Champions League. United, on the other hand, is still not getting going under coach Rúben Amorim and is only in 13th place.
The United defense never got Brighton professionals Yankuba Minteh and Kaoru Mitoma under control. The Japanese Mitoma prepared Minteh for the lead (5th minute). Minteh returned the favor with a perfect assist to make it 2-0 by Mitoma (60th).
Former Hoffenheim professional Georginio Rutter made Brighton’s third win in a row at Old Trafford perfect after a mistake by United keeper André Onana (76th). Bruno Fernandes scored for the hosts with a penalty kick to make it 1-1 (23rd).
After the much-noticed XXL contract extension with top scorer Erling Haaland until 2034, champions Manchester City climbed back into a Champions League place. Pep Guardiola’s star ensemble managed a 6-0 (3-0) win against relegation candidate Ipswich Town.
The long-struggling team around ex-national team captain İlkay Gündoğan thus underlined its positive trend ahead of the important Champions League duel with Paris Saint-Germain.
Haaland scored his 17th goal of the season to make it 5-0 (57th). The outstanding Phil Foden (27th/42nd), Mateo Kovačić (30th), Jérémy Doku (49th) and James McAtee (69th) were also successful for the “Cityzens”. Gündoğan was used for the entire season.
