“I would like to play again, but my body doesn’t allow it.” Francesco Totti says it with a bitter smile, who in recent months had feared his sensational return to the pitch six years after his farewell to football. At 47 years old, however, the former Roma star had to surrender to that “cursed time” which doesn’t always coincide with the desire to hang up his boots. Totti is in New York as a guest of FIFA for the presentation of the Tiffany-branded trophy which will be given to the winner of the Club World Cup scheduled for next summer in the USA. Interviewed by Dazn, the former number ten first joked with Diletta Leotta (“Does the interview last so few minutes? I thought it would be worse, the last time meeting you we spent three and a half hours. Better because it’s cold…”) and then talked about the competition which will also see Inter and Juve involved.

But who will win it? “Both Inter and Juve are great teams, competitive and knowing the clubs they will do everything to win it. Triumphing in a World Cup has been everyone’s dream since childhood, it’s even difficult to explain what it means – Totti recalls thinking of 2006 -. I would like to take the field with the strongest team there will be, Real Madrid, which you know was my dream if Roma hadn’t been there.
