After the HSV win against Cologne, striker Selke revealed his shoe size in an interview. The Sky presenter duo welcomed this gratefully.
In an interview with the TV channel Sky, the striker dealt with a scene in which he missed the ball by just a few centimeters after a sharp cross.
“I already have shoe size 46, but even that wasn’t enough,” joked the 29-year-old, alluding to his significantly longer-than-average foot length.
Sky presenter Yannick Erkenbrecher took up the quote in his subsequent moderation and explained that he had learned a few days earlier that Selke was not alone in the ranks of German professional strikers with this shoe size.
Because: Stuttgart’s Nick Woltemade also has shoe size 46. The 1.98 meter tall attacker revealed this after his goal in Wednesday’s 2-1 win against RB Leipzig.
Erkenbrecher apparently thought he had recognized a pattern and also asked his counterpart at the moderation table, former striker Simon Terodde, about his shoe size.
He took up the rhetorical ball and replied: “The record goalscorer has shoe size 47 1/3.” At 1.92 meters, Terodde is not quite as tall as Woltemade or the 1.95 meter tall Selke, but when it comes to goals, he is far ahead of both of them. With 177 goals, Terodde is the most successful goalscorer in the history of the 2nd Bundesliga.
There is still a long way to go for the only goalscorer on Saturday evening at the Volksparkstadion, Ransford Königsdörffer. But at least he has already scored eight goals in 17 second division games this season.
And of course presenter Erkenbrecher also asked him about his shoe size. The answer: “45 plus.”
