Entrepreneur Teun Kemps from Schijndel has also experienced that vans are popular with criminals. The company bus from his bicycle shop has been missing since Thursday morning. And he had only had that bus for just a month. “This costs a lot of money again. But I’m especially disappointed that they touched my things,” says Teun.

The bus was located at Teun’s house in Sint-Oedenrode and was removed during the night from Wednesday to Thursday. “I only bought that bus a month and a half ago,” he says. “It was 13,000 euros and it also contained a few electric bicycles for 3,000 euros each.”

He is least concerned about the money. “We do get some of that back from the insurance, but never completely of course. I’m especially disappointed that they touched my things. That does have an impact. There were customer bicycles in there. I also find that annoying towards them.”

The number of thefts of company cars has increased enormously in the past year. There were 426 last year, forty percent more than in 2023.

Teun also notices that more and more entrepreneurs are becoming victims. “I heard that a company bus was stolen in the neighborhood that same night. Thieves really don’t care about the impact on entrepreneurs.”

Teun hopes that there are people in the neighborhood who have camera images. “But I actually no longer have any confidence that that bus will come back. I think they have already crossed the border.”
