The winter transfer phase is underway and the German clubs are in the middle of it. Rumors and fixed changes from the world of football can be found here.
With the beginning of 2025, the transfer window opened in the Bundesliga and other European leagues. In Germany the transfer period ends on February 3rd. Players can then move abroad if the leagues there have a later transfer deadline.
Which clubs are most in need of reinforcements, what is FC Bayern doing and what is the situation at the top European clubs? These and many other questions will be answered this transfer winter. At t-online you can find an overview of the most important guesses and changes from Germany and the world.
After one and a half unsuccessful years at Paris Saint-Germain, former Frankfurt player Randal Kolo Muani moved to the Italian record champions Juventus Turin. “I’m happy that Kolo Muani is coming,” said coach Thiago Motta in the press conference on Friday. However, the “bureaucratic formalities for the transfer” were still missing.
If the change works out in time, the French international Juve would be available for the home game against AC Milan (6 p.m./DAZN) on Saturday. “Otherwise we will have him from the next game,” said Motta.
After the start of the 2023/24 season and a training strike, Kolo Muani went from Frankfurt to PSG at the last minute for 95 million euros and signed a contract until 2028.
Claudio Ranieri, Mats Hummels’ coach at AS Roma, has announced that he will quit as coach of the Serie A club after this season. “The club will look for a new coach who can lead the team to the top of Italian and European football,” Ranieri told Italian broadcaster Rai Sport. “At the end of the season I will stop training. It’s time to say that’s it.”
The departure of the 73-year-old Ranieri is likely to be a turning point for Hummels. After his move in the summer, the ex-national player initially had a difficult start in Rome. Under Ranieri’s predecessor Ivan Juric, the 36-year-old Hummels hardly got a chance. Ranieri, now Roma’s third coach this season, is fully relying on the 2014 world champion, who has become a top performer.
VfL Wolfsburg has signed Danish international Andreas Skov Olsen. The 25-year-old winger comes from Belgian champions FC Brugge after a day-long transfer dispute and is expected to replace Ridle Baku, who was sold to RB Leipzig, at VfL. In Wolfsburg he signed a contract valid until 2029.
Skov Olsen was part of the Danish team at the European Championships in Germany and the World Cup in Qatar. He has also been linked with clubs such as Feyenoord Rotterdam and AC Milan in recent months. His player agent has caused a stir in recent days when he publicly pressured FC Brugge to accept Wolfsburg’s offer.
Denis Thomalla is leaving 1. FC Heidenheim after just over nine years. The 32-year-old is joining AEL Limassol from Cyprus with immediate effect, as FCH announced. His contract, which originally expired in June 2025, was terminated early.
This season, the midfielder has only appeared four times in all competitions, twice of which he was in the starting line-up. “We completely understand that he is looking for a new challenge after nine years at FCH and recently only a few working hours,” said Heidenheim’s CEO Holger Sanwald.
