Huahkajat gets a new head coach. Jussi Eskola
Palloliitto said on Friday that it will hold a press conference at the Olympic Stadium on Monday, where the new head coach of the men’s A national team will be announced.
Huahkaji’s previous head coach Markku Kanerva got fired in november.
Finland played its eighth consecutive match without a win on November 17, when Greece beat Finland 2–0 in the League of Nations. Five days later, Kanerva was relieved of his duties.
At least there has been speculation as a suitable name for the position Toni Koskelaa, Jani Honkavaaraa and Mika Lehkosuota. However, these three names fell out one by one. Koskela and Honkavaara accepted a job from Sweden, and Lehkosuo of Pikkuhuuhkajien recently confirmed for MTVthat he does not want to take over the A national team before the end of next summer’s EC tournament in Slovakia.
On the other hand, Lehkosuo told MTV that he is “definitely ready” to become the Huuhkajie’s head coach after the youth EC tournament. So, in principle, it is possible that Lehkosuo would jump in after the “temporary” coach – but this is also just speculation.
The Danish Tipsbladet, on the other hand, recently rumored that the 48-year-old Jacob Friis would be the next head coach of the Finnish men’s national team. Friis is currently working as an assistant coach for Bundesliga club Augsburg.
The Finnish Football Association’s press conference starts on Monday at 1:30 p.m.
