DOW JONES–Mining companies Rio Tinto and Glencore have discussed a merger, according to an agency report. As Bloomberg reported, citing people familiar with the matter, talks were recently in early stages of such a merger, which would become the largest-ever merger in the mining industry and reshape the industry worldwide. A Rio Tinto representative declined to comment when contacted by Bloomberg. A Glencore spokesman was not immediately available, according to the report.
