Return to Paradise, Death in the living room: the third episode tonight on Rai 2

In the third episode Mackenzie Clarke (Anna Samson) is struggling with the murder of hairdresser Bianca Bailey (Airlie Dodds), whose body is found inside her beauty center. The colleagues who just returned from their lunch break found out. Who broke into the shop during their absence?

Clarke immediately goes to the crime scene, where her ex-boyfriend Glenn (Tai Hara) and Colin Cartwright (Lloyd Griffith) are already at work. Question Tahnee Jones (Natalie Abbott), who is still in shock and says that she organized the lunch to celebrate Bianca’s birthday. Furthermore, it turns out that she and the victim had been friends forever. The dynamics of the murder appear rather complex. The shop was locked, there were no signs of forced entry and the only certainty was that Bianca died of strangulation.

Clarke notices that there is no smoke detector in the massage room and, looking at the appointment book, discovers that Bianca’s life revolved around the salon: she had no time for herself, she had no hobbies and she only had three friends, colleagues Tahnee and Donna Smithwich (Anni Finsterer) and her sister Skye (Tess Haubrich). All three are in possession of a bunch of keys, but each of them has an iron alibi.

Four suspects, who killed Bianca?

Mackenzie then has a talk with Donna: He catches her crying on the sidelines and discovers that she was hired by Bianca after spending 9 years in prison. She is the one who reveals that Bianca did not have a good relationship with Troy Lexton (Jason Chong), the owner of the propertyand that a few days earlier he had caught them arguing in the garden. Then Colin discovers that the victim was behind on the shop’s rent by as much as $60,000.

Lexton claims that Bianca had already given him $42,000, with the promise of paying the rest off shortly. Troy also seems to have an alibi. Glenn notes that Bianca was strangled not with a cord or belt, but with a scarf or object that left no marks on her neck. So Clarke summons Skye to investigate her relationship with her sister and asks for information on the arson attack set when he was a teenager. Skye explains that, soon after, her mother kicked her out of the house and for a long time she and Bianca had no contact.

Only after her mother’s death did Bianca ask her to work for her. Skye, however, is the only heir and thus becomes a suspect. A witness claims to have seen a man enter the shop around 12.55pm, just as Bianca’s colleagues were out for their lunch break. The description matches Troy, who admits that he went to the living room, but that he ran away as soon as he saw Bianca’s body lying lifeless on the floor. The matter becomes more complicated: Clarke has four suspects, but who is the killer?

The professional life of Clarke it is inexorably intertwined with private life. She is still stuck in Australia waiting for her superiors in London to let her know if and when she can return to duty.
