Darts legend Adrian Lewis currently no longer has a tour card. “Jackpot” still has big plans for the future.
Adrian Lewis decided not to take part in this year’s Q-School for personal reasons, which means he no longer has a tour card. The 39-year-old will probably play primarily in the Modus Super Series in 2025, but not in the PDC. But this could change again in twelve months, as Lewis still has his sights set on returning to the tour.
“I didn’t go to Q-School this January,” the Englishman told “The Sun” about his sporting situation. He hopes “for next year,” said Lewis. “I want to enjoy the game again. I can’t approach it half-heartedly, I have to be 100 percent involved,” explained the former world champion, why he didn’t try his luck at Q-School this year.
Lewis announced a break from darts in April 2023 after more than 25 years, saying he needed a break. Last fall, “Jackpot” started on the Modus Super Series, which is not part of the PDC professional association.
Adrian Lewis is aiming for his third darts world title
Lewis emphasized that he hopes to regain his motivation. “There is no reason why I can’t go back and get my tour card back,” said the darts legend about a possible comeback on the PDC tour.
People everywhere would ask him when he was coming back. “I say, ‘Not yet. When I’m ready, I’ll come back,'” said Lewis in response.
“What didn’t I miss? Probably the traveling. You’re on the go all the time. And the preparation. People don’t realize how much preparation you have to do,” said the two-time world champion, commenting on his absence from the tour. However, Lewis made it clear that he missed his darts colleagues.
The right-hander is confident that he will be able to keep up with the world’s best if he returns. “Absolutely. When I return, I will concentrate 100 percent on the third world championship title,” Lewis said: “I have the experience and the age. All I’m missing is the hunger. As soon as that’s back, There’s no reason why I can’t carry on.”
Lewis won the World Darts Championship in 2011 and 2012.
