The fire brigade was called around 4 p.m. because an irritating substance was allegedly sprayed in the school building on Den Uyllaan. It was not yet clear what type of substance it involved. The fire brigade, ambulance and police responded to the incident.
Upon arrival, the school, where about fifty children were still present, was immediately evacuated. This is what a spokesperson for the safety region said. “The fire brigade immediately investigated and ventilated the building.” One person had to be briefly checked in the ambulance, but did not have to go to hospital.
Possible pepper spray in gym
They were able to leave again around 5 p.m. According to a police spokesperson, it is not yet entirely certain what exactly happened. “It is suspected that pepper spray was sprayed in the gymnasium, but we do not know for sure yet.” The police cannot now make any statements about the cause of a possible pepper spray incident. No one was arrested.
