The musician recently spoke publicly about her mental problems. Now she has sought professional help.

Lily Allen reportedly checked into a so-called trauma clinic. The musician herself did not confirm the news, but the place where she will probably be staying for at least a few weeks is said to have no phones at all. She previously hinted at a lengthy absence from the “Miss Me?” podcast.

Separation from David Harbour

The Daily Mail first reported that the British woman was said to have sought psychiatric treatment because, according to friends, she was on the verge of another nervous breakdown. The reason for this: the separation from her husband, the “Stranger Things” actor David Harbour. The two met in 2019 and married in September 2020. Harbor is said to have cared for Allen’s two children from his first marriage to Sam Cooper as he did his own.

The separation is said to have occurred at the end of 2024 because Lily Allen discovered that the 49-year-old Mime was probably active on a dating app. According to the Daily Mail, the 39-year-old was on vacation over the New Year and it was only when she returned to their New York home without her husband that the crisis would have broken out. After dropping off her two daughters, 13-year-old Ethel and 11-year-old Marnie, at school, she sought medical treatment.

“It’s completely out of control”

In the podcast “Miss Me?”, which Allen has been doing with Miquita Oliver since March 2024, Lily Allen revealed on January 9th how bad she was feeling mentally at the moment. “I know I’ve been talking about this for months, but I’ve gotten deeper and deeper into a vortex and it’s completely out of control,” Allen said in the podcast episode. He continued: “I tried… I mean, I came to the ‘Miss Me?’ Christmas dinner, had a panic attack and had to go home. Or recently I was at a play with my friends Carla and Claire and I had to leave halfway through.” She continued: “I can’t concentrate on anything other than the pain I’m experiencing. And that’s really, really hard.”

Allen already explained that she would disappear for a while starting the following week. She also addressed the listeners directly and said that they probably wouldn’t hear her for a while. In the same breath, the singer also stated that she would not go to a rehabilitation clinic. The Brit had problems with drugs in her past, but she said she hasn’t relapsed. She has been considered sober for five years, The Guardian reported.
