VfB Stuttgart recently made use of Bundesliga rivals Hoffenheim and signed attacker Jacob Bruun Larsen. Head coach Sebastian Hoeneß has now stated on the sidelines of Sunday’s Bundesliga game against FC Augsburg (1-0) that the Swabians are definitely considering further commitments from new signings.
“We’re keeping our eyes and ears open,” VfB Stuttgart coach Sebastian Hoeneß confirmed on Sunday to “DAZN” before the game against FC Augsburg. The 42-year-old restricted: “But we only take action when we have the feeling that we are really improving. It’s about peak performance.”
Last season’s Bundesliga runners-up recently closed the major squad construction site in attack by signing the Dane Jacob Bruun Larsen from TSG Hoffenheim. Up until the winter break, there were great concerns, especially on offense, after two central strikers, Deniz Undav and El Bilal Touré, were injured. Other attackers like Jamie Leweling and Justin Diehl were also missing.
Undav and Leweling have now recovered and celebrated their comeback against Augsburg after being substituted on, the former even scoring the winning goal (65th).
Is VfB Stuttgart strengthening its defense?
As Hoeneß now indicated, the squad planners could tackle the defense by the end of the change period on February 3rd. The reason: “Dan-Axel Zagadou was firmly planned in the center. He played a very good role for long stretches last year, but was never really there this season because he unfortunately got injured early on. That’s why we have to find out. “
Even with Ameen Al-Dakhil, who was signed by FC Burnley in the summer, he has not really been able to fulfill his role as a replacement for Waldemar Anton, who moved to BVB, due to an injury. “But we have good basic quality and will not engage in activism, but we will keep our eyes and ears open to see whether we can strengthen ourselves further,” explained Hoeneß.
