Over the past three years, the area funds with wind turbine money in Aa en Hunze and Borger-Odoorn have helped pay for more than a hundred projects by residents to improve the quality of life in villages. In total, the area funds paid out more than 1.2 million euros to projects in the vicinity of the De Drentse Monden and Oostermoer wind farm.

This is evident from an inventory by RTV Drenthe. The money went to, among other things, making village halls and club buildings more sustainable, constructing playgrounds and organizing village festivals.

The highest amount, more than 200,000, was spent on the construction of a roller-skating and ice rink in Drouwenerveen. The smallest amount was 200 euros and went to a war memorial at a primary school in Nieuw Buinen.
