A huge wildfire is raging in the Los Angeles area. The fire has destroyed not only the forest, but also buildings, including people’s homes.

The NHL club LA Kings canceled their Wednesday night home game against the Calgary Flames. At least according to current information, the NBA club Lakers, who play in the same hall, will host the Charlotte Hornets on Thursday evening, i.e. early Friday, Finnish time.

Ex-hockey player Sami Helenius son Samuel plays for the Kings. The father has been in contact with his son through messages.

– They are protected, Sami Helenius tells Iltalehte.

– Their room is on the coast, in Santa Monica.

Staples Center, home of the Kings and Lakers, is located downtown, on Figueroa Street.

A role player

Samuel Helenius, 22, has broken into the NHL this season. He has played 21 games in the Kings’ four, the last time on New Year’s Day.

– The boy has taken the role of the quadruple court, the father sums up.

– They appreciate his physicality. He tackles and has joined the fight a couple of times.

Sami Helenius is remembered as Finland’s first NHL-level heavy hitter. During his most active season, he had nine fights, according to the Hockey Fights website.

Samuel Helenius has fought at the NHL level twice, but already quite a bit in the AHL, or farm league.

– At the farm, they said that you have to accept that (fighting) job, the father says.

– As a proud father, I watch when he has embraced it. It takes a while to learn. Yes, those boys learn it.

A trip to North America awaits Sami Helenius in a few weeks. The fathers of the Kings players visit the team and watch two games on site.

– I’m looking forward to it.
