As the demand has grown, new types of bras that seemingly reduce the size of the breasts have entered the market. Breast-reducing bras are no longer just sports bras from Rintamus, they look just like regular bras.

In the selections of underwear stores, you can find beautiful and decorative as well as very reduced options.

– Many big breasts are looking for beautiful, practical and sexy minimizer bras. Not all models that can be reduced to the smallest cups are available, says the store manager of Change at Ideapark in Tampere Sanni Haarala.

Reducing bras usually do not have padding or linings, but the bra gives your own breast space to settle into the cup. The cut of the bra cup is usually high, which makes the bra comfortable and provides support. In this way, the breast also does not get to bounce over the edge of the cup.

Bras have real health benefits

The breast tissue of large breasts may have softened, in which case the woman wants to show her breasts without emphasizing them too much. Sometimes the unevenness of the breasts can also be the reason why someone chooses a reducing bra – this way the size difference seems to even out. In terms of durability and comfort, it is important to choose the right size and model that really fits you.

Also, tight and supportive sports bras, bras without underwire or with a covering cup can create a smaller impression on the breasts.

– The functionality of slimming vest models is strongly connected to the tightness of the vest. The circumference should be sturdy and the cup should cover enough, but still fit snugly enough so that it collects the entire breast material close to the body without rounding the breast too much, says Sissi Leinonenmanager of the Change store in shopping center Jumbo in Vantaa.

– In particular, really large cup sizes even get health benefits from a reducing bra, when the weight of the chest does not rest only on the shoulders and upper back muscles. A bra with a firm cup keeps even a large breast in place when moving, Leinonen continues.

Most of all, the size of the breasts can be reduced with a sports bra. Lighter bralette tops are also popular for this purpose, although they rarely bring sufficient posture to the breasts. In a full cup bra, you get really strong support and the breasts are close to the body so that it does not emphasize the size of the breasts.

Who needs a reducing bra?

If you think of a stereotypical person who needs slimming bras, they are usually big-breasted.

– Most of the time, I have struggled with size since a young age, and my nerves when it comes to finding bras are starting to get extremely tense. Many find their bra size awkward or bothersome, and experience various pains in the neck, shoulders and upper back. Many clothes are perceived to fit better when the chest size can be reduced, so to speak, Leinonen says and continues:

– So aesthetic reasons weigh heavily on the scales for many.

– Some people who experience body dysmorphia get strong support for their breasts from reduction bras without or before reduction surgery.

– Reducing bras with full support are the best for heavier breasts that need support, advises the store manager of Changen Ratina’s store Katariina Myllyniemi.

Typically, full support reduction bras have a high coverage cup, a wide back, and thick straps. According to Myllyniemi, they feel soft and sturdy when worn.

– Often the background is a desire for an everyday life where the bra is as inconspicuous as possible. Many people want to not have to mend their underwear during the day, says Myllyniemi.
