Our province is doing better than the Flemish average, where the number of bankruptcies has increased by 6 percent. But the figures are not rosy. A total of 1967 jobs were lost, which is about 600 more than the year before.
Most jobs were lost in the catering industry (443), textiles (311), but also in retail (291) and the construction sectors (168). The closure of the McThree carpet factory in Waregem caused the largest job losses, with 278 people losing their jobs there alone.
