Oliver Christensen guarded the goal for Hertha BSC in 33 games in the Bundesliga, and now the 25-year-old keeper from AC Florenz may be about to return to Germany. The Dane, who was sidelined in Italy, is on the radar of second division club SC Paderborn, reports the TV channel “Sky”.

There is therefore a loan with a purchase option for the goalkeeper, who is under contract in Tuscany until 2028. Christensen left Hertha BSC in the summer of 2023 after relegation from the Bundesliga, and Florence transferred a transfer fee of 3.8 million euros to the Spree. Since then, the former national player has only made ten appearances at “La Viola”, in which he conceded 15 goals. The goalkeeper only played four times in Serie A and was not in the squad once this season. According to the report, the cut-out Christensen has been cleared by Fiorentina to join a new club in the winter.

SC Paderborn rotated between the posts with Markus Schubert and Pelle Boevink in the first half of the season. The East Westphalians lost ground in the fight for the promotion places in the end of the year, which led coach Lukas Kwasniok to make a critical all-round attack at the end of December, in the course of which the keepers in particular lost their fat. “The goalkeepers alone cost us six to eight points this year. And not with can-do actions, but with brutal misfires,” the coach complained and at the same time called for reinforcements in the winter: “We simply need crackers so that we have the theoretical chance of staying at the top for a longer period of time.”

With Marvin Mehlem and Casper Terho, Pader has already had two new loan signings in the winter. Christensen could be one of the next – and possibly end Kwasniok’s worries about the Tor construction site.
