Some residents would rather not see the parking spaces disappear. Also because they don’t like cycling staples. “Everywhere there is a crowd with those bicycles,” says someone. “So the more places for bicycles, the bigger the mess becomes.” Another calls it ‘downright scandalous’. “It is known that every Amsterdam resident has 2.5 bicycles and a cargo bike. How many staples do you have to put down?” Yet some people also understand that there must be room for cyclists: “It is the future to improve the city, so to speak, in this way.”
