And yet, according to the ILT, the special regulation from 2013 against noise pollution would actually cause nuisance. That became apparent last summer. In 2023, the limit value for aviation noise was increased by almost 20 percent exceeded at a measuring point in Uithoorn. According to the Inspectorate, this is almost entirely due to the years-old government plan. But even then the ILT ‘could not enforce because it had received an instruction from the minister’.

Visser from PUSH Uithoorn cannot blame the ILT for not handing out punishments. “They really need to be given more tools to do something, they now only have very limited options.” She has little confidence that the government will intervene quickly. “The minister seems to be continuing with his plans.”

Van den Broek of the RBV foundation shares this opinion. “It’s good that these kinds of things are on the front page, and it’s good that there are lawsuits and the like. But ultimately the government does what it has always done: allows itself to be dictated by aviation.”
