It took a year, but it is now known what chip machine manufacturer ASML paid for buying up one of the neighbors. ASML bought the De Heiberg sports and events complex for 17.75 million euros. The Eindhovens Dagblad reports this in a reconstruction.

Sixteen years ago the seller bought the site for 2.75 million euros. Both the company and the seller did not want to say how much ASML paid for the entire area last year.

A spokesperson for ASML said in a response that the company never discloses what they pay for their purchases. Ultimately, the purchase amount came to light during a witness hearing in the court in Den Bosch. Former ASML real estate director Teun Wartenbergh had to testify under oath. He closed the deal last year and had to name the amount for which the neighbors were bought out. Then he would say the newspaper asked in court not to disclose the amount of 17.75 million euros.

Court case
The former ASML real estate director had to mention the amount because there is uncertainty about the sale. One of the two business partners of the sports and events complex left De Heiberg in 2021, but agreed that he would share in the profits as soon as the sports complex was sold. This year there will be a lawsuit to determine how much he is entitled to.

ASML has been located on the De Run industrial estate in Veldhoven since 1985. Much has been expanded in all these years. Sports and events complex De Heiberg is the size of five football fields. It includes three sports and event halls and a playground on the Heerseweg in Veldhoven.

Tens of millions
ASML previously bought various companies on the Heiberg for tens of millions. For example, more than 11 million was paid for a poultry farm on the other side of the street (including a house and some land) and a chick hatchery was acquired by ASML for 3.6 million euros. The company also bought half a street on Heerseweg. Millions were also involved.

This is all part of De Heiberg that ASML bought a year ago:

  • The grounds of Indoor trampoline park Street Jump Veldhoven.
  • The sports hall where Padel club The Padellers is located. A hall with six indoor courts that is open every day from early in the morning until late in the evening.
  • Event hall Strand 365 where various activities are held: from Christmas drinks, family parties to team building.
  • Play landscape De Heiberg, a huge outdoor playground.
  • A tennis park with five outdoor tennis courts.
