The movie The Brutalist about a Hungarian-born Jewish architect who survived the Holocaust is the big winner of the 82nd edition of the Golden Globes. The British-American-Hungarian film by director Brady Corbet received awards for best drama film, best actor (Adrien Brody) and best director.
Corbet said in his speech that everyone had told him that his 3.5-hour epic would be “undistributable”, that “no one would come and see” and that the film “wouldn’t work”. He therefore appealed to trust the vision of filmmakers and received loud applause for this.
Nicole Kidman missed out on the award for her role in the film Baby girl by Halina Reijn. The Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Drama Film went to Fernanda Torres for her role in I’m Still Here.

The French-Mexican musical comedy crime film Emilia Perez won both the prize for best foreign-language film and best musical or comedy. Also became the number El Mal from the film was named best film song and actress Zoë Saldana received the prize for best supporting actress.

First serious prize ever for Demi Moore
62-year-old Demi Moore, who played her role in The Substance won the prize for best actress in a comedy or musical, perhaps provided the highlight of the evening with a speech in which she couldn’t stop speaking.
She said a producer once told her she was a “popcorn actress” who could make films that were successful and made a lot of money, but would never get recognition. “I’m completely in shock,” she said, clearly emotional. “I’ve been doing this for a long time, about 45 years, and this is the first time I’ve ever won anything as an actress.”
