Even for gritters it is too slippery on Friday morning. On the Burgemeester Ballingsweg in Hulten, a gritter slid out of the bend on a very slippery road. The car ended up on its side and crashed into a fence.

The driver was unharmed. Photos show that a lot of road salt has ended up on the roadside. Part of the road has been closed off to clear the mess.

Remarkably, it was not the only accident on this road. About a hundred meters further on, a car slid off the road. The car got stuck with its wheels above a ditch. Here too, the driver was not injured. A recovery company is on site to tow the cars away.

Rijkswaterstaat warned on Friday of local slippery roads. The service advises motorists to keep extra distance and not to change lanes unnecessarily. It is also not recommended to make abrupt steering movements. More than three million kilos of salt have been spread throughout the country since last night.
