On New Year’s Eve, Nuoret Leijonat beat Latvia cleanly 3–0 in the Under-20 World Championship. Latvia had almost nothing to say to Finland in the match.

Finland scored a goal per set. He was responsible for the first hit Benjamin Rautainenwho was allowed to place the puck in the goal Konsta Helenius for the wonderful preliminary work.

More came after the set break, when it was done Jesse Kiiskinen. However, the most raucous atmospheres of the evening were seen after the 3–0 hit.

Avidly chasing the goal Kasper Halttunen finished with superiority Aron Kiviharjun serving. Halttunen vented with real emotion, yelled swear words, and during his vents on the changing bench, he removed the language image, i.e. the monkey, from his back on the bench.

With the win, Finland is at least third in Group A, at best second. The group standings will be decided during the night, when Canada will face the United States and Sweden against the Czech Republic in the final game of the group.

Finland will finish third in the group if the United States beats Canada in overtime or in the winning goal contest. Otherwise, Finland is the group winner. In that case, Nuoret Leijonat would face Slovakia in the quarter-finals starting on Thursday, meaning they would avoid Sweden and the Czech Republic.
