Dinner for one will be seen this year in the traditional way without any extra fuss.

Freddie Frinton plays the butler who gets drunk at high speed and May Warden’s Miss Sophie, who has plans for the rest of the evening.

Yle learned from last year’s mistake. At that time it was part of the New Year’s tradition Dinner for one was going to be omitted.

Sharp-eyed viewers who noticed a shortcoming in the program made sure on Yle’s social media channels well in advance that it wasn’t just a mistake. It wasn’t. That’s really how it was supposed to work.

– A long tradition is broken! Anne Maaritia was annoying in many other ways at the time.

In the end, the audience’s feedback got through, Yle reversed its decision at the very last meters, and the short film was shown as usual.

– Thank you Yle for coming to your senses and correcting your mistake by returning Dinner to One to the software. I hope this will continue to be the case in the future, Thomas wrote fresh.

At least this year it is – and without any extra fuss. Now Dinner for one has been in the software all along. So, once again, we watch the 18-minute sketch from 1963, where Sophie celebrates her 90th birthday. James, the butler, helps the old lady as best he can. Even the Older Man himself plays his mistress’s guests in turn, since they have all already passed from time to eternity.

In the joint game, Miss Sophie takes on her old friends Sir Toby, Admiral von Schneider and Messrs. Pommeroy and Winterbottom. In reality, only James is there. Over

James takes his role seriously. When “Sir Toby”, “Admiral von Schneider” and “Messors Pommeroy and Winterbottom” fart harder than the man, so does James who plays them. It just so happens that before long the butler is very drunk. However, that doesn’t prevent the last move of the evening.

– Shall we do the same as last year, Miss Sophie? James makes sure.

– Yes, we will, Sophie confirms.

Since the practice is really the same as last year, a winking James escorts Sophie to the side of the bedroom.

– I will try my best, he promises.

Heinz Dunkhasen in the classic James is played by Freddie Frinton and Sophie by May Warden.
