Slalom in Semmering
German ski ace Dürr takes podium place
December 29, 2024 – 2:55 p.mReading time: 1 min.

Success for the German ski racer Lena Dürr. She achieved second place in the World Cup races in Semmering.
German skiing hope Lena Dürr reached the podium for the second time this season. The 33-year-old came second in the slalom in Semmering, Austria. Only Croatia’s Zrinka Ljutić, who had already impressed more and more at the end of last winter and was now celebrating her first World Cup victory, was faster. The 20-year-old’s lead was 1.75 seconds. Local hero Katharina Liensberger came third, Dürr’s teammate Emma Aicher took eighth place.
Dürr, the third-place finisher at the 2023 World Championships, is one of the biggest hopes in the German alpine team – especially since things aren’t going well for her slalom colleague Linus Straßer so far this season. In the first slalom run of the winter in Levi, Finland, the Munich woman came third in mid-November. However, Dürr has not yet been able to take advantage of the absence of the injured star duo Mikaela Shiffrin (USA) and Petra Vlhova (Slovakia) to win.
