Lena Dürr showed a strong performance at the slalom in Semmering and made it to the podium. Only Croatia’s Zrinka Ljutic, who dominated both runs, was faster.

Lena Dürr recently missed the podium at the slalom in Killington despite being in the lead at half time. That shouldn’t happen to the 33-year-old from SV Germering today, especially since Dürr was second fastest in the first round. Behind the Croatian Zrinka Ljutic, who benefited from the course set by her father and coach in the first run. The Swiss Camille Rast, currently leader in the slalom rankings, went into the final third from last and ultimately missed the podium.

Dürr also showed a committed drive in the second run and made few mistakes. She reached the finish with a lead of two tenths of a second. But the 33-year-old’s time wasn’t enough for victory. Zrinka Ljutic, who followed her, pulverized Dürr’s time and ultimately won with a lead of 1.75 seconds over the German.

Liensberger like in old times

The Austrian Katharina Liensberger was happy about third place (+1.85 seconds). The 27-year-old, who had already finished second in Levi at the start of the season, mastered the middle part of the slope on the Zauberberg and temporarily took the lead. The ÖSV driver stayed in the leaders box for a long time. Only Dürr could push them away.

Aicher conjures up a pass in two

In the second round, DSV talent Emma Aicher finally emerged from the shadow that seemed to surround her in the last few weeks. She was eliminated from the giant slalom on Saturday and the 21-year-old was also not satisfied with her first run in the slalom. “It felt really bad”said Aicher afterwards on ZDF.

But she really succeeded in the second run. With the fourth-best (?) running time, Aicher temporarily took the lead. The DSV driver was particularly convincing in the first part. After a short wobble in the middle section, in which she lost four tenths of a second, she made up for her dropout in the last part of the slope.

Hilzinger narrowly missed the second run

“It was nice and rhythmic and was really fun to drive,” Aicher commented afterwards on ZDF. “I was happy that I was able to push and still make it to the finish. The bonus was that it lit up green.” In the end it was enough for XXX. Jessica Hilzinger missed the final by just a hundredth of a second.
