The bad luck with injuries at the German Ski Association’s Alpine events doesn’t stop. Now Simon Jocher has also been hit.
Simon Jocher from Garmisch suffered a severe bruise to his right heel bone during the World Cup downhill on Saturday in Bormio, Italy, after which he had to cancel his participation in the Super-G on Sunday.
“Stitch in the heel”
It remained unclear how long the 28-year-old, who finished a respectable 13th place in the race, would be out for. DSV team doctor Christoph Kruis could not rule out a fracture of the heel bone. There is no “one hundred percent proof” of this, he said. Further investigations should provide certainty over the coming week.
According to his own statements, Jocher sustained the injury on the San Pietro jump, but then drove to the finish. “I noticed that he went really far,” he reported about his jump, “when I landed I immediately felt a sting in my heel.”
