Christmas in Springfield: the special double episode of “The Simpsons” on Disney+

In the growing offer of sports-themed series on Disney+ it is possible to come across The Crossoveran eight-episode series that has basketball as its main narrative element, and that is based on the novel of the same name by Kwame Alexander.

Two twins, Jordan and JB, share a passion for basketball, for which they are both considered talents; but while one is obsessed with success in the discipline, the other gradually lets himself be seduced by other interests and passions.

In “Crossover,” two teenage twins have a passion for basketball

The two experience the normal vicissitudes of adolescence, including their relationships with their father, a former coach of this sport and now ill, and their mother, sweet and firm, principal of the school they both attend. Crossovers mixes the classic elements of the “sports drama” with those of the “family drama”coming to outline a melancholy and real picture of the lives of many teenagers.

Basketball, in fact, often enters the US series with a bildungsroman slantalso by virtue of its sample of rhythms, efforts and collective joys that compose it. In Crossover each episode of the series refers to the specific vocabulary of basketball (Time out, Rebound, Huddle upetc.).
For those who love series in which sport becomes a metaphor for the difficulties of life.
