Art Rooijakkers’ criticized Bonaire holiday turns out to be a sponsored trip: it was all paid for by flight stunter Corendon. “We actually didn’t want to leave,” said the TV star.
It is a bit strange: Art Rooijakkers is on the eve of the premiere of the most important program of his career, namely News of the Day – he has left RTL 4 to make a kind of right-wing six o’clock news at SBS 6 – but while his colleague Malou Petter is working hard to prepare, Art is enjoying his travels.
Have a nice trip
Tina Nijkamp, the former channel boss of SBS 6, finds it unacceptable. Last week she posted two Insta-stories side by side: one of Malou who was busy preparing for News of the Day, and one of Art who was on holiday. Well, after an hour Tina’s story was finished. What turned out? Art angry.
The TV authority wrote: “While Malou Petter is busy day in, day out with News of the Day, which should start on January 6 (already in three weeks), the other presenter is on a sunny island. I don’t understand the fact that as a presenter you choose this yourself. You want to be well prepared, right? Well, I guess it’s just me.”
Bonaire trip
Art was on Bonaire with his lover and informed Tina that he had ‘already done a lot of preparations’. Tina: “Well, it will and he really has to know for himself. But I didn’t go on holiday. And I certainly hadn’t posted anything about it because I didn’t like the team, but that’s also up to me.”
It seems that Art really completely underestimates how this program will determine the rest of his career. Not only Malou, but also Art runs a huge risk that, like Merel Westrik, he will soon only be allowed to read the news somewhere on a B-radio station. After all, a switch to Talpa ends in oblivion for many.
Sponsorship deal
What now appears? Art’s trip — he just got back — was also some kind of sponsorship deal. Like an aging influencer, the presenter now posts a typical Instagram post with a lot of photos, all of which he goes through point by point below. “The view at breakfast in our resort. Sorry, but this just looks like a poster!”, etc.
We also see Art wearing diving goggles. “Diving goggles, they really make you feel better, don’t they… But hey, we did see some nice turtles,” it says.

Who picked up the bill? Corendon. “Result after this week of sun refueling in collaboration with Corendon; rested and full of vitamin D ready to start a new year,” says Art.
Sponsored Going on holiday while your colleagues are working hard: will this come back like a boomerang in Art’s face? One thing is clear: he is not happy with the constant criticism – for example, Johan Derksen has been asked by Talpa to spare Art a little – but then of course he should not bring it on himself.
Very angry
It seems that Art is mainly concerned with the short term: he has now hustled another free holiday to Bonaire. Perhaps it is foresight: if his contract with Talpa is not extended, he will have to start hustling full-time…
Anyway: is there any celebrity who is not happy with Corendon? Yes, Glennis Grace. She just posted a pissed off message on Instagram: “Arrived in Curaçao last night and one of our suitcases did not arrive, Corendon. We would really like to be helped very quickly, but we are constantly being sent from pillar to post!”
