Finland took its first victory in the under-20 World Cup tournament in Ottawa.
Emil Hemming is still looking for his opening goal of the World Cup tournament. PDO
The Young Lions opened their points account in the under-20 World Cup. Germany went down 3-1 after a sticky performance.
– It wasn’t pretty, but the three points were important for us, which is what we wanted, Emil Hemming said.
Finland’s goal scorers were Emil Pieniniemi, Arttu Alasiurua and Jesse Kiiskinen.
Germany played on the borders of the rules.
– Well, yes, the line of judges was a bit nicer. They let everything go through, so to speak. There were a few hits in not so nice places.
Not tiring
Finland played two World Cup matches with a break of less than 18 hours.
– There is no fatigue yet, at least for me, it’s great to play these games. There is a good feeling in the games there. And when you know you’re up against the best, you want to do your best.
Finland lost its opening match of the tournament to Canada 0–4. That’s why the victory over Germany was particularly important.
– Really important. This is where our journey starts. If you look at last year, it was a little more difficult then, the first round pick of the Dallas Stars went crazy.
On Saturday, Finland trains lightly. The games continue on Sunday against the United States.
