The management and employees of FC Volendam announce that the Volendammer died of natural causes. “Jan was very popular at our club and very involved. He had been committed to FC Volendam for years,” the club said. “He was an FC player through and through. All electrical jobs were done by Jan. He arranged everything. Weekends or holidays, it didn’t matter to Jan. If there was a problem at the FC, Jan came immediately.”
Bont was also busy at the club today, with a small job. He did that just before Christmas.
Jan was almost a grandfather
“Jan was proud to become a grandfather. He had plenty of time for that after his retirement. Jan leaves behind a wife, two daughters and a son-in-law. He was only allowed to be 66 years old,” writes the Volendam club.
Everyone within FC Volendam is deeply affected and defeated by Jan’s sudden death. “We are very grateful to him for all the work he has done for our club.”
