The police are investigating the pole vaulting coach Alex Parnoviawho is alleged to have touched, molested and groomed several female athletes.
The matter is reported by, among others, an Australian 9 News and Fox Sports.
9 News posted a video on Facebook in which Parnov touches pole vaulter Nina Kennedy’s rear as she stands on the side of the field in leotards.
The video was filmed in 2016, when Kennedy was 18 years old.
Erection in bed
Another pole vaulter who fell victim to Parnov is Amanda Bisk. He was 20 when the coach molested him during a competition trip in Japan in 2009.
Bisk tearfully told The Australian how Parnov, reeking of alcohol, came into her room late at night as she was going to bed.
The coach told his protégé that he wanted to talk about the next day’s competition and “put Biski to bed”. The jumper misunderstood and agreed.
– I was naive, a young girl. I developed late. So I thought he would cover for me like my parents might do and wish me luck in the Games. Then he actually came to bed with me, Bisk recalls according to Fox Sports.
– I felt that he had an erection. He rubbed it against me and said he had an erection because of me. I started crying and begged him to stop and thankfully he did. I noticed that he was frustrated with me.
An investigation by The Australian magazine has uncovered text messages, emails and documents that reveal Parnov’s actions and also the failure of his employer, the Western Australian Institute of Sport (WAIS), to intervene.
