Patrik Laine’s statements did not make the Columbus locker room laugh.
Patrik Laine started a war of words in Columbus. PDO
Montreal Canadiens Patrick Laine returned last night to Columbus for the first time since last summer’s player trade. The return was hot even before the opening puck dropped.
Laine told reporters after the morning ice that he requested the trade because the Blue Jackets had a culture of losing.
– It felt like the same thing was done there year after year. I was tired of losing and giving up and already in December to focus on the new season. I don’t like that. It’s frustrating for a player when you want to win and some others don’t, Laine said.
Laine did not want to specify whether he was talking about the Jackets’ management team or the players. In any case, the ex-teammate’s fiery phrases were noticed in the Columbus locker room. This started a real war of words.
– Yeah, it’s unfortunate. As players, and I as one player among others, we were only good teammates and good friends to him. It is completely unforgivable that he bores us like that, shot the star defender Zach Werenski after the game.
Werenski’s comments were reported by the Athletic’s Jackets editor Aaron Portzline. The defenseman said he hopes Laine is doing well. The star striker was tackled mercilessly in the opening set of the match, and he did not return to the second set. The Canadiens announced an upper body injury.
– A couple of tackles and… well, yeah. I don’t know what happened, but it’s unfortunate, Werenski said.

– We were just good teammates for him. It’s a piece of shit that he comes here [Columbukseen] and says things like that. We’re certainly not happy about it. Those comments say more about him than about us.
Columbus defeated Montreal in the game of the night and remains ahead of the Canadiens in the standings. Both are teams at the bottom of the league. Portzline said that Laine’s comments were a strong motivator for the Jackets.
– Yep, one hundred percent. What was he thinking when he said that? It’s just incredible. I’m not going to waste my time on that anymore. I don’t want to talk about “Patty” anymore. I hope he’s all right. I thought it was pretty ridiculous, Werenski said.
