At the start of the new year, several new regulations and laws will also come into effect. In addition, from 1 January 2025, some agreements that were previously made will be implemented, for example with the House of Representatives. For the Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations, for example, this concerns the following changes.

New oath of office

From January 2025, civil servants who enter the service of the central government will take a new version of the oath of office. This better indicates what civil servants stand for and how they want to work; on the basis of equality, justice and respect. The new text of the oath also makes it clearer that civil servants work in the general interest of our society.

Participation Enhancement Act at a decentralized level

In addition, the Strengthening Participation at Decentralized Level Act will come into effect. With this law, the government wants to strengthen the involvement of residents in the preparation, implementation and evaluation of policy of their municipality, province, water board or public body in the Caribbean Netherlands. The right to challenge, as a specific form of participation, is now also legally enshrined.

Woo dashboard

Furthermore, a first version of a dashboard will go live that provides insight into the handling of Woo requests at ministries. This dashboard is publicly accessible and improves the way in which the central government currently provides information about Woo requests, such as via letters to Parliament. The data on the dashboard will be updated quarterly.
