The program for the last Sunday of Serie C of 2024 is rich, with 14 matches from all three groups. The calendar year will end with the Monday postponement of group C Trapani-Foggia, an expected match from a fresh ex for Eziolino Capuano. Here’s everything that happened.

group a

It will be an even more festive Christmas for Padova: the leaders take off with the success of Trento (1-0) signed by Liguori, extending the lead to plus ten over second-placed Vicenza (which does not go beyond the 0-0 on the Giana pitch). The victory comes at the end of an intense and hard-fought match: the attacker from the Marche breaks the balance in the first half with an assist from Faedo, both teams find themselves with ten men (Giannotti and Varas sent off) and the result does not change in the second half, for the joy of over 700 Paduan fans. However, as mentioned, Vicenza’s away game in Gorgonzola was a bitter one: even the hosts were the ones to complain, hitting the woodwork twice and missing a penalty with Lamesta. AlbinoLeffe smiles: on the Caldiero pitch – semi-finalist of the Italian Cup, against Giana – the third consecutive victory arrives (2-0), Fossati unlocks it, Caldiero misses a penalty with Filiciotti, Mustacchio closes the score with a free kick ( in the middle, one expulsion on each side). Moving down the rankings, Pergolettese sticks their nose out of the playout zone by overcoming Pro Vercelli with the clock running out (1-0): Bignami takes advantage of Careccia’s assist in the 94th minute, Pro had previously hit the crossbar with Comi.

group b

In front of 12 thousand spectators in a spectacular Adriatic stadium, the big match Pescara-Ternana ends 0-0: the first half was blocked, the second half was livelier in which first Plizzari’s saves denied Curcio and Cianci the goal, with the hosts livelier in the finish but without breaking the balance. Entella takes advantage of this, passing to Solbiate Arno on the Milan Futuro pitch (2-1, without Jimenez but with Camarda) and grabs first place: everything happens in the second half, Zeroli brings the young Rossoneri level after the own goal by Zukic, but on the half hour Guiu triggered Corbari’s winning shot which gave Fabio Gallo’s team a Christmas at the top (level on points with Pescara and Ternana). Fourth place is taken by Torres, who stops Vis Pesaro’s winning streak by turning them over at home (3-1) and overtaking them in the standings: the Marches lead with Coppola, but the reaction is furious with Fischnaller’s brace and half the goal of Varela in the space of nine minutes. Arezzo has the same points as Vis Pesaro (35), which passes to Campobasso (1-0): the penalty converted by Pattarello was decisive, together with Trombini’s saves to defend the result. Perugia did not go beyond a draw (1-1) against former Formisano’s Pianese: the Tuscans took the lead with Mignani, equal to Matos’ first goal of the season. Three woodblocks (two for the hosts) and no goals between Rimini and Carpi.

group c

There is a trio on the lowest step of the podium: at 35 points, in fact, Cerignola is joined by Avellino and Potenza. A header from substitute Cionek (assisted by Palmiero) was enough for Biancolino’s team to overcome Picerno 1-0, thus archiving the elimination suffered this week in the Italian Cup. Potenza’s golden moment also continues, with their third success in a row: Messina overturned at Viviani (2-1), the former Rosafio and Castorani reply to Petrungaro’s provisional guest advantage (fifth defeat in the last six for Modica, sent off in half of the second half). Catania starts running again, driven by Roberto Inglese’s hat-trick to put the poker (4-0) at Sorrento: Stoppa also scores, worth mentioning is the happy debut between the red and blue posts of the very young goalkeeper Damiano Butano (16 years old, finishes undefeated also with the help of the crossbar hit by Todisco at the beginning of the second half). Giugliano’s success was less comfortable than expected (2-0) against a Taranto that was increasingly last and in enormous difficulty, on and off the pitch: Giorgione broke the deadlock in the 78th minute, followed shortly by Masala’s second.
