Athlete throws bag through the air
Ski jumper angry: “Not fair”

The wind conditions were difficult, and in the end Marius Lindvik’s jump was not enough to progress. The Norwegian got really upset.
On Saturday the ski jumpers had to prove themselves in Engelberg. In the end, Jan Hörl was happy about the World Cup victory. While things went well for the Austrian, Norwegian Marius Lindvik had a day to forget. The 26-year-old was not allowed to start due to the difficult wind conditions. When the jump was opened, Lindvik reached the bottom after just 116 meters – and later got very upset.
He said in an interview with Norway’s public broadcaster (NRK): “I had no chance. Why don’t they just wait when the conditions are so difficult? It’s not irresponsible, but it’s not fair either. They should have just waited or raise the hatch, it couldn’t be worse.”
Lindvik sat on top of the beam for a long time and then had to get down again before he was allowed to sit down again. ARD commentator Sven Hannawald said after the Norwegian landed: “This will cause discussions again. But it is also the case that other jumpers had similar conditions.” Lindvik was still annoyed because the 116 meters meant the Norwegian was eliminated. In the athletes’ area, he angrily threw his bag through the air.
There is a general upheaval in the Norwegian team. In May, the association parted ways with head coach Alexander Stöckl. He looked after the team for 13 years. Since then, the Norwegian jumpers have wanted to make a fresh start with Magnus Brevig.
