The American: “When I arrived they told me that Juve would be too big for me, but I do everything I can to change people’s minds”
“I feel good at Juve and I also like the city, I’ve been here for four years and I want to stay as long as possible but it also depends on the club”: this is how the Juventus midfielder, Weston McKennie, talks about his future. And on the question about the renewal: “I don’t know if we’ve started talking about it…(laughs, ed.)”. The American was the protagonist of a charity initiative at the San Paolo oratory in Turin as part of his McKennie’s Magical Youth Mission project: “The objective is to help children, I really love giving a hand to the little ones and to the most older people,” explains McKennie.
role and objectives

In the Italian Cup he was tried out in the new left-back position: “For me it’s enough to play, even in goal, and with Allegri I started right on the side – replies the 1998-born player -, it’s always been easy for me to play in all roles: when I arrived they told me that Juve would be too big for me, but I do everything I can to change people’s minds.” And on the objectives: “It was a difficult moment because we drew many matches, now we are all focused on Monza and then we’ll think about Fiorentina again, then we will dedicate ourselves to the Super Cup in Arabia”, concludes the midfielder.
Turin

Weston McKennie spent the first social activity of his new foundation among the children of the San Paolo oratory in Turin, together with the Salesians and Puma, bringing gifts and some footballs that will be used during the leisure activities. “I’m very happy to be here, at home in Texas I have my nephew who is growing up without a dad. I was like an idol for him and I always like to help children,” he said.
mentality
—
On this occasion, the midfielder also spoke about Juve and the moment the team is going through, focusing on the “three points as a Christmas present” and not only that: “It was a difficult moment for us, we don’t lose but there were many draws – he said -. Now we just want to focus on the next match against Monza. We want to win, then we’ll think about the next ones and when we’re in Arabia we’ll also think about the Super Cup.” Monza will need a great performance: “I think it will be a very important match, because we have seen that when we play against Manchester City, Leipzig or teams like that we have a very high level of attention. Our team must always have this mentality and have this level even with teams fighting for the lowest places in the table.”
project

Last summer McKennie seemed out of the Juve project, then he returned to the squad and carved out an important place for himself. In terms of renewal, he says that he feels “good at Juve, I also like the city. I get on well with the team and the staff, I’ve been here for 4 years and I want to stay here as much as possible, but it depends on the club. Have we already started talking about the renewal? I don’t know… (laughs, ed.)”. On the role of wild card: “For me nothing changes – he said – the important thing is to play. It’s also good in goal. Last year with Allegri I started the year as a right back or fifth in midfield. The important thing is to help the team. It’s easy for me to help the team, during my career I’ve played in all positions.”
