A baseball player Joni from Rytkö accused of sexual abuse of a child and sexual abuse of a child.

The prosecutor’s district of Eastern Finland says that it filed a subpoena application with the District Court of North Karelia today, Friday.

Between November 2022 and April 2023, Rytkönen had sent sexually suggestive messages to two underage girls on social media. To one of the girls, Rytkönen had also sent visual material, such as videos and pictures of him masturbating.

Rytkönen’s super nest club Joensuun Maila shelved after Rytkönen’s case came to light. The player from Helsinki is the three-time leader of the series.

In January, the sport’s ethical disciplinary board banned Rytkönen for six months. In June, the Sports Legal Protection Board banned him from all sports, which will last until the end of the year.

Rytkönen told the Judicial Security Board about the “trap set” for him.

According to Rytkönen, one of the subjects of the messages, together with the third girl, would have provoked him to send a picture of his genitals, a video of masturbation and porn videos.

According to Rytkönen, he made sure several times if the girl really wanted him to act like this. After the trap was sprung, Rytkönen says that he “withdrew from messaging” with the girl.

The subpoena application submitted to the District Court of North Karelia is confidential. The court will decide whether the case will be heard behind closed doors and whether the material will be classified as confidential. The case moved to prosecution in April.
