Gerard Joling is at home in all markets: he was seen last night as a political scientist on the barstool of Today Inside. What exactly does he think of Pieter Omtzigt? “Get rid of that whiner!”
RTL 4 has imposed a Today Inside quota on Gerard Joling: he has been given two free passes to join the program, and he used one of them last night. Officially, Gerard is not allowed in VI that often because he is an exclusive RTL face, unofficially he is not allowed because the RTL top is terrified that he will say very right-wing things.
Terrible Omtzigt
Gerard is right-wing, very right-wing, and the RTL top would prefer to disguise that. Director Peter van der Vorst must have been heartbroken when Geer started talking about politics in VI. “It is of course also true, Wouter (de Winther, ed.), that all those political parties do not give each other the light of day.”
“Whether it’s BBB or that horrible Omtzigt, that gentleman… That man has messed things up and there is so much tension between each other… They don’t give each other the light in their eyes. It is not one government that will arrange it. This won’t work! Make new elections!”
PVV voted
Gerard confirms once again that he voted for Geert Wilders in the elections. “I voted for the PVV.”
Johan Derksen then says: “Well, it could be worse: I voted for Omtzigt.”
Gerard: “Yes, that’s even worse. What do I think of Faber? I think, as I have seen here in your program, where she is of course hackneyed and tired to the core… She does this assignment, she really just wants to do it well, but somehow it just doesn’t work out . She will only receive opposition, including from the entire coalition.”
Weak brother
This entire cabinet is about to collapse, Johan thinks. “Omtzigt has emerged as a mentally weak brother who only shouts one thing: that it must be good government. Everyone hates him and avoids him. He deals with the enemy and has a double agent role. He is the source of unrest in The Hague.”
Gerard: “Yes, I completely agree with you. He also explodes it, together with D66. Mark my words!”
Wilfred Genee: “Just to be clear, Gerard: if they blow it up, there will be nothing left of NSC. That no longer exists.”
‘Yuck!’
Johan also thinks that NSC will implode. “No, that’s all over.”
Gerard would be fine with that: “Your own fault, get away with that whiner!”
And what he has to say about Frans Timmermans? “I think those Timmermans are creepy. I can’t tolerate that. Yes, I’m sorry. There are also plenty of people who think I’m a creep! I think he’s a very scary man. He is against everything, always negative, but that is also because it is incredibly left-wing!”
