“I made the film that I would have liked to have seen myself as an adolescent boy”: Anthony Schatteman presents debut ‘Young Hearts’

“It wasn’t until I was 21 that my dad knew I was gay,” says screenwriter-director Anthony Schatteman (35). That dad is Johan Schatteman, once a successful charm singer who turned many party tents upside down: “I would have liked to have known earlier, but I was so busy.” ‘Young Hearts’, Anthony’s autobiographical debut film, is about that struggle. “This film has brought closure: the family hug after the premiere said more than words.”
