Central Drenthe has closed a drug house in Hooghalen and Bovensmilde. A cannabis plantation with two hundred plants and a drug laboratory were discovered there respectively.

According to Mayor Jan Zwiers, the two buildings have been closed ‘to restore public order and safety’. The hemp plantation in Hooghalen was immediately dismantled and closed yesterday. The same applies to the drug laboratory in Bovensmilde at the end of last week.

According to the municipality, this building was not only a danger to public order, but also to the immediate environment due to the hazardous substances released during production.

Mayor Jan Zwiers emphasizes that drug crime will not be tolerated in Central Drenthe: “Tackling drug crime is our highest priority,” he says. “These types of activities pose enormous risks to our residents and disrupt the safety and quality of life in our municipality. We therefore continue to take firm action to combat this form of crime.”
