In the Eredivisie, the highest-rated professionals in particular recorded a downgrade as part of the December update. Nevertheless, the squad values of PSV Eindhoven and Feyenoord Rotterdam are rising again, while record champions Ajax Amsterdam are the biggest losers. Ex-Bundesliga professionals Ricardo Pepi (21) and Malik Tillman (22) reach new personal records.

Ex-Augsburg player Pepi scores every 63 minutes in the Dutch upper house, only Twente’s Sem Steijn (23) was successful more often. “Pepi shows outstanding goalscoring qualities and could soon displace Luuk De Jong. His goal rate is impressive and he has made great development,” explains Jesper Sierevald, Area Manager Netherlands at TM. The US international’s market value has risen by half and is now 18 million euros, his career high to date. It is the third plus that Pepi has received since moving to PSV in the summer of 2023.

Other big winners include Pepi’s teammates Tillmann and Ismael Saibari (23). The ex-Munich player increased his market value by 5 million to 30 million euros and recorded his sixth plus since 2023. “Tillman has been playing excellently all season and is showing his versatility. His market value is also increasing because there is still a lot of potential due to his young age.” Saibari climbs from 16 million to 23 million euros and records the second largest increase in the league. “There is still a lot of room for improvement at Saibari. If he maintains his performance, he can soon become the most valuable professional in the league.” With five goals and seven assists, he is in the top five of the best Eredivisie scorers.

The biggest increase is for Anis Hadj Moussa (22). The right winger from Feyenoord, for whom the club paid 3.5 million euros in the summer, has eight goals in 17 games and was particularly impressive in the Champions League. “He is in the form of his life and shows that he can easily make the jump from Vitesse to Feyenoord. The upgrade is just an intermediate step on the way up, because its market value will probably also increase in the coming updates.” Hadj Moussa has increased sixfold to 12 million euros for the time being.

Bakayoko: The biggest loser is still the most valuable professional

Eindhoven’s Johan Bakayoko (21) and Brian Brobbey (22) from Ajax suffer the biggest losses. Bakayoko’s market value drops from 45 million to 40 million euros, but the Belgian remains the most valuable professional in the league. “Bakayoko is in a slump in form and cannot build on the good performances of last season. At the moment he is no longer the difference player at Eindhoven.”

The market value of Brobbey also falls by 5 million and is now 30 million euros. “He is miles away from building on his phenomenal second half of the season last year. His place in the Dutch national team ensures that the deficit is not even greater.” The attacker was only successful once in 14 appearances.

The fact that Bakayoko remains the most valuable professional in the Eredivisie is because Feyenoord’s Santiago Gimenez (23) is devalued. He missed twelve games due to injury and has only been back since the end of November. “In the months before his injury he was no longer so good that he was associated with the top European clubs.” After a loss of 3 million, the Mexican is worth 37 million euros. At the weekend he scored a brace in the 5-2 win against Heracles Almelo and has six goals in eight league games.

Gimenez’ teammate Quinten Timber (23) and Eindhoven’s midfield duo Jerdy Schouten (27) and Joey Veerman (26) will also be devalued by 3 million euros to 32 million euros. “Because he has played a lot of games, he seems tired and out of form. If he gets back into form in the second half of the season, things can go up again,” says Siereveld about Timber. In the case of the PSV duo, he cites injuries as the reason for the devaluation. Overall, five of the six most valuable Eredivisie professionals receive a minus.

German professionals in the Eredivisie: Another loss for Ramaj

A total of 14 German footballers are under contract in the Eredivisie. The most valuable of them remains Diant Ramaj (23), who is valued at 7 million euros after his second loss in a row. In the summer his market value was 18 million euros, but Ajax coach Francesco Farioli decided to make Remko Pasveer (41) the new number one. Timon Wellenreuther (29; -1 million to 6 million) from Feyenoord and Twente’s Lars Unnerstall (34; -500,000 to 3 million) also received a minus. Things are going up for Heerenveen’s Mats Köhlert (26; +200,000 to 3 million) and Breda’s Raul Paula (20; +200,000 to 700,000.)

In total, eight Eredivisie clubs recorded an increase in squad value. Despite the devaluations for the top players, Feyenoord and Eindhoven are the big winners. After a total increase of 9.7 million, the Rotterdam squad is valued at 305 million euros, which shortens the gap to PSV in the overall ranking marginally (+7.6 million to 346 million). Record champions Ajax continue to lose touch with the champions of recent years. Farioli’s team is still worth 213.7 million euros after a loss of 8.4 million euros.

This is how transfer market market values work

The transfer market market values are created taking into account various pricing models as well as a strong involvement of the transfer market community, which deals with the values in detailed discussions. The transfer market market values cannot generally be equated with the transfer fees actually paid.

The goal is not to predict a price, but rather an expected value. When determining the market value, both individual transfer modalities and situational conditions are relevant to a certain extent. Examples of this will be here listed. Transfermarkt does not use an algorithm (for a detailed definition of market value).
