The thirteenth matures month by month: it is the fruit of 1/12 of the gross salary accumulated for each month of work, from January 1st to December 31st. Calculating the amount is therefore very simple: multiply the monthly installment by the months actually worked. For part-time contracts, the amount is proportionate to the number of hours. However, any time not worked, such as unpaid leave, may affect the final amount.

Not all workers will see the same amount compared to last year. For ATA teachers and stafffor example, the thirteenth of 2024 will be lighter than 2023. Last year, in fact, they benefited from an advance on the contractual renewal for the three-year period 2022-2024, paid with a lump sum of around 1,000 euros, which increased the extra monthly payment. In 2024, in the absence of this extraordinary measure, the amount returns to reflect only the ordinary accrual.
