Philipp Nawrath achieved another top result at the Biathlon World Cup in Hochfilzen. After eighth place in the sprint, the 31-year-old again finished eighth in the pursuit, but he never had a real chance in the fight for the podium after two shooting errors over the 12.5 kilometers. When Johannes Thingnes Bö won again, the Bavarian was the best German for the fourth time in the fifth individual race.

Nawrath started with a mistake in the first shooting, which meant the leading group pulled away. Ultimately, we were one minute away from making it to the podium. Justus Strelow (2 penalties/+1:38.3 minutes) fulfilled the second part of the World Championship standard with 13th place. The Germans, who started late after a weak sprint, all gained places. Philipp Horn (1/+2:05.2) came 21st, Simon Kaiser (2/+2:12.7) achieved his best result to date with 25th place. Johannes Kühn (2/+3:06.4) moved up from 59th to 34th.

Biathlon: gust brings Jacquelin down

Sprint winner Bö prevailed again after two shooting errors in a thrilling three-way battle on the final lap and successfully defended his yellow jersey. He brought down Emilien Jacquelin (1/+3.5) during an overtaking maneuver on the last climb. The Frenchman, who started 14th, came second in the finish sprint against the Norwegian Sturla Holm Lägreid (1/+3.8).

At the end of the World Cup, the second season of the winter is scheduled for Sunday (2:15 p.m./ZDF and Eurosport). In Kontiolahti, the German quartet was disappointed with fourth place and a significant gap.
