Former goalkeeper and former coach Frans Körver died on Saturday at the age of 87. His family announced this, writes the ANP news agency. As a trainer, Körver managed to promote to the Eredivisie six times with five different clubs, still a record.
Körver, born in Schinnen, Limburg, made his debut in 1959 as a goalkeeper for football club Sittardia. He later spent thirteen seasons as goalkeeper for MVV from Maastricht.
As a trainer, Körver managed numerous clubs, including the four Limburg professional clubs: Roda JC, Fortuna Sittard, MVV and VVV Venlo. He was promoted a total of six times, with FC Wageningen (1980), Fortuna Sittard (1982), MVV (1988 and 1997), VVV (1993) and De Graafschap (1995).
