Johan Derksen understands that Jan Slagter is not interested in bringing Catherine Keyl back to the screen. “You can’t put her on a chemical toilet at a table like that,” he says.
At the age of 78, Catherine Keyl has much more TV ambition than the national complainant Martine van Os (67), but Jan Slagter still does not consider giving her a place at Omroep MAX again. Jan is very resentful that Catherine once left his senior broadcaster and his revenge is sweet: she will never get a place again.
Diarrhea attacks
Why Catherine stopped her successful daily talk show MAX & Catherine in 2006? Diarrhea attacks. “I’m just going to say it now: I have Crohn’s disease. “That means that when I’m really nervous, I get really bad diarrhea,” she said ten years later.
In this case, that tremendous diarrhea was induced by her MAX show. “MAX and Catherine caused a lot of stress, because it was a live show. I was always nervous. I was exhausted from having diarrhea all day and still having to perform.”
Full whack
Catherine’s diarrhea was actually caused one-on-one by Jan. So Catherine got diarrhea from Jan. “I had ‘help’ from six editors, but they were all beginners. Broadcaster MAX boss Jan Slagter did not want to pay the full price, that is why.”
By adjusting her diet, Catherine no longer suffered from diarrhea. “The complaints are gone now, because I no longer have any stress, but then it was a nightmare.”
What does Johan say?
Johan Derksen is shocked by Catherine’s diarrhea. “I read interesting information that Catherine Keyl left TV due to bouts of diarrhea,” he says Today Inside.
Wilfred Genee: “Yes, that is correct, but is it wise to mention that again right away.”
Jan: “She is a bit annoyed that Jan Slagter won’t take her. I don’t think it’s surprising that Jan Slagter has contemporaries of the target group present.”
Still good
Wilfred is enthusiastic about Catherine. “She can still do it well, there’s nothing wrong with that.”
Johan: “Yes, but if she always has to sit on a chemical toilet behind such a table, that is of course not…”
Wilfred: “But I have the feeling that it is all okay now that she has it under control again.”
Johan: “She is still very fit at 78 years old and full of ambition, right?”
Wilfred: “I think Catherine should just come back to the table everywhere, including at MAX, you know.”
Statue
Table guest Wierd Duk also thinks Catherine is a winner. “She should have a statue, shouldn’t she, Catherine Keyl? She also writes that column for us. I mean: you’re 78 and you still have so much ambition! I don’t think I would have it.”
Wilfred: “No, I know more people who don’t have that, hahahahaha.”
Johan, pointing to René van der Gijp’s new four-day working week: “Yes, not four days a week, right! Five days a week!”
René: “Does she want five days a week?”
Wilfred: “If possible, yes.”
Very sharp
Political reporter Sam Hagens believes that Catherine should be given more space. “She is also very sharp.”
Johan: “And also in her face after her operation. Yes, he had it all done, right, because otherwise you wouldn’t look like that. There is nothing hanging or falling on her.”
René: “A nice woman.”
Wilfred: “I think Jan Slagter should just call.”
