The World Rally Championship points system will be renewed for the coming season, Autosport news.

In the future, points will only be distributed at the end of Sunday. Drivers ranked 1-10 receive points as follows: 25-17-15-12-10-8-6-4-2-1.

In addition, the five fastest drivers on Sunday will receive additional points, and from the power stage, as usual, points will be distributed to the top five as follows: 5-4-3-2-1.

– The system is simpler now that “Saturday points” have been abandoned. It is now less likely that the winner of the rally would get fewer points than the second-placed driver, the International Automobile Federation FIA says according to Autosport.

Fia emphasizes that Sunday still offers fans additional excitement in the form of extra points.

FIA also announced that the new WRC27 cars will be built with a smaller budget of €345,000 due to the cost cap. Other expenses of the stables are also planned to be cut.

Lower costs help new stables to join the sport.

According to Autosport, the new WRC27 cars will also be slower than before. They will match the speed of cars from 2012–2016.
