After the separation from Christoph Dabrowski, which was viewed critically by many in the third division club Rot-Weiss Essen, speculation about the 46-year-old’s successor is in full swing. According to initial information from “WAZ”, the traditional club was in contact with the clubless Markus Kauczinski. But there will be no collaboration. As the Newspaper reported on Tuesday evening, Kauczinski, who was at the top of the list, is said to have canceled through his advisor. A second attempt at the alleged preferred candidate was also blocked. Essen’s CEO Marc-Nicolai Pfeifer simply said: “We will not comment on our process, profiles or names. Regardless of this, the two sports directors are entrusted with the replacement in cooperation and coordination with the board.”
The 54-year-old Kauczinski has the experience of five positions in the first three professional leagues to date. His third division record: 129 games, 70 wins, 27 draws, 32 defeats. Kauczinski most recently coached the SV Wehen Wiesbaden team, which he led to the 2nd league in 2023. Last season he had to leave after 31 match days. According to the “WAZ” “there has been a lively exchange between those responsible for RWE and Kauczinski for some time,” but he did not want to comment on the speculation when asked.
Pavel Dotchev, who recently left Aue, denied contact with RWE: “There is no contact with Rot-Weiss Essen. After being released from FC Erzgebirge Aue, I’m currently in a phase where I first have to process what happened,” he was quoted as saying by the newspaper when asked. Accordingly, Verl coach Alexander Ende and the unemployed Patrick Glöckner (most recently Rostock) are not an issue in Essen. DFB youth coach André Pawlak, however, declined a request from the club.
