The seventh LP is scheduled to be released in February 2025. What will LG7 sound like?

Lady Gaga has revealed more details about her as-yet-untitled seventh studio album. The lead single “Disease” from October provided a small foretaste of the album’s thematic direction: the chaos of self-analysis.

The little devil on your shoulder

The new work would reflect many different facets of her personality. Disorder is the central motif of her new music, she said in an interview with the US “Rolling Stone” on December 9th. “It’s like an exercise in chaos [„exercises in chaos“] – an insight into the different sides of myself,” says the New York songwriter.

The first single “Disease” in particular embodies this idea. She plays with the unpleasant but real experience of always questioning yourself. “For me, there is a kind of chaos inherent in all our attempts to analyze ourselves. ‘Disease’ is the beginning of it, and it started with this little voice on my shoulder saying, ‘There’s no more tears to cry, I heard you begging for life’ – and that uncomfortable feeling we sometimes have when the “The voice in our head is not friendly,” said the 38-year-old.

In Rick Rubin’s hallowed halls

The album, recorded at Rick Rubin’s famous Shangri-La Studio in Malibu, combines this personal reflection with musical experimentation. And although Rubin himself did not take part in the recording sessions, Gaga joked: “His spirit was present.” Working with producers Cirkut (Britney Spears), Andrew Watt (Miley Cyrus) and her fiancé Michael Polansky, however, was for the singer and actress been more significant.

Polansky helped her refine the lyrics of “Disease”. For example, by changing the line “I could play the doctor, I can cure your disease” to “Bring me your desire, I can cure your disease”. “He knows me so well and helps me to translate my thoughts and feelings into music,” said the award-winning all-rounder.

Light at the end of the tunnel

Lady Gaga, whose real name is Stefani Germanotta, described the new record as feeling like she was “seeing the light” just before something positive happened. But there are also “other moments that are just about love, and they are super dreamy,” Gaga added. “It’s real chaos for me.”

The musician released Lady Gaga’s sixth studio record CHROMATICA in 2020. In the meantime, her soundtrack for the film “Joker: Folie à Deux” was also released this year, in which she also played the female lead. The new LP is expected to hit record stores in February 2025.
